INSTRUCTIONS
Why is Turris
Cool?
Turris follows the laws of basic
mechanics, allowing the player to perform virtually infinite varieties of
"tricks", and devise ever so clever ways to cause the objects to interact.
The fundamental game play is very simple, so while the game has an infinite
potential of goodies, one can start playing it with relatively
good results within minutes.
Objective
The objective of Turris is to stack falling blocks as high as
you can. For each level, after dropping exactly 100 objects, a certain score must be
achieved to pass on to the next level. Points are given for each block
that is above the threshold, marked by a red horizontal line in the game.
All pieces that are above this line are worth some points, which are indicated
by the number shown next to each piece. The higher above the threshold the
piece is placed, the more points it is worth. Additionally, pieces that
are placed at the center of the screen, between the two blue vertical lines are
worth 10x the number of points as the pieces places on the sides. Circles
are worth 3x the score blocks are worth, and triangles are worth 2x the basic
block score. Now here is what makes this stacking game very unique.
The pieces that fall objey the laws of physics. They bounce off eachother,
roll, you name it!

Play
-
Once you start a game, hit any key except
for the 'CONTROL' key on the keyboard to drop an object. (For example, the 'SPACE' key is
a good key to use.)
-
Hold down the left mouse button, and drag
the mouse left or right to apply a force to the object's center of mass.
This will have the effect of shifting the objects horizontal position.
NOTE: you can keep applying force to the object even AFTER it dropped, untill
you press a key and drop a new object! Use this!
-
Hold down the left mouse button while
holding down the 'CONTROL' key, and drag the mouse left or right to apply
a force to the object at a
point slightly above the center of mass. This will have the effect of not only
moving the object horizontally, but also giving it a spin. NOTE: you can keep
applying force to the object even AFTER it dropped, untill you press a
key and drop a new object! NOTE: Holding down the right mouse button without pressing
the 'CONTROL' key will also invoke this function.
-
When applying a force to the object,
how fast you drag the mouse determines the magnitude of the
force. So the faster you move the mouse
while holding down the mouse button, the more effect you'll have on the
object.
-
The score you need to complete the
game is shown on the top of the screen under "Asset Requirement".
The score for the level you have is shown under "Current Assets". The
"Current Assets" field is the sum of all the scores of all
objects above the threshold line. "Current Assets" must match
or exceed "Asset Requirement" in order for you to pass to the next
level.
-
You get 100 objects in each level. Your "Asset
Requirement" must be met or exceeded after all 100 objects are
dropped. For example, if at some point you have the "Asset
Requirement" covered, but by the time you drop your last object your "Current
Assets" score is less then your "Asset Requirement" score, your game
ends.
-
Scoring:
-
Each block is worth the number of
pixels it is above the red threshold line.
-
Each triangle is worth 2x what a block
is worth.
-
Each circle is worth 3x what a block is
worth.
-
Everything is worth 10x its original
value if it's in between the two blue vertical lines.
-
Objects are worth nothing if they are
under the red threshold line. Only objects above this line have asset
value.
