Game objective:
Protect you space stations from
enemy invaders by destroying the invaders before they get to
them.
How
to
destroy the enemy invaders:
Destroy the invaders by creating
"dense space" in their path. Dense space is an area where you can
see some color. The enemy are destroyed when they attempt to
cross a sufficiently dense area.
How
to
move the "particles" that make up space:
Press and hold down the left
mouse button as you drag it over an area on the screen. This will
create a path of force, or a low pressure area, along which the
particles flow. NOTE: This simulation is based on fluid dynamics,
and hence the particles will not simply follow your mouse. Part
of the challange is to figure out how to control this fluid like
space. Many tricks and possibilities exist to those who can
master this skill.
Game
Indicators:
Level and Score are the
level you are on, and your current score. Lives indicates
how many more invader to space station crashes are allowed before the
game ends. Enemy
ships
left indicates how many enemy ships need to be destroyed
before the next level starts. Entropy is a
number that essentially describes how much of the particles are moving,
and how fast. When Entropy is 0, your sceene is at
rest. Very important to note, that when entropy is 0, your
score will be incrementing continuously. To get a high score, you
will not only need to be able to destroy enemy ships, but also will
need to be efficient, and have 0 entropy as much of the time as
possible.
Game
Scoring:
You get 50 points for each enemy invader that is destroyed.
Additionally your score will continuously count up as long as your
Entropy reading is 0. Entropy will return to 0 if you do not move
particles around for a short time. The particles will eventually
come to rest, at which point your entropy will be reading 0, and you'll
start getting point added to your score continuously.
Basic
Behavior of Particles:
The particles are visible by the colors in the simulation space.
The highest density areas, or the areas with the most particles will be
red, while the lowest density areas will be dark blue. You need
at least a light blue area in the path of the enemy invader to stop the
invader. The enemy invaders will not be affected by the dark blue
ares. All other colors will be able to destroy the enemy.
(light blue, green, yellow, red, and amber will all work) You
will get a feel for what colors represent the most density as you start
playing the game. This information will be helpful not only when
trying to stop the enemy invaders, but also in mannaging resources to
try to figure out where to take particles from when a new space station
appears that needs protection.
When you swipe your mouse accross a part of the screen, you will create
invisible force lines. You will need to get a feel for how to
control the particles using these force lines. The particles act
as a fluid would in real life, hence it's not as simple as drawing a
line with a pencil. However, once you master controlling this
fluidic space, you will be able to create many scenerios to manipulate
the particles in a huge variety of ways. Once the particles set
in motion, if you leave them be, they will at some point come to a stop
through natural friction. When they stop, note that your entropy
reading will also go to 0.
When particles leave the screen, they will reappear at a single point
in the center of the last space station to be created. You may
notice a red point materializing in the middle of the space
station. If you hold down you left mouse button, and swip your
mouse cursor over it, you'll notice it will "unfold" into a larger
area. You can, and should, use this in your favor, to transport
particles quickly to any new space stations, so that you can start
fending off intruding ships as soon as possible.

game any time:

Basic
Strategy:
There are many ways to play this game, and there are almost an endless
number of strategies that can be created by the user. I will
outline a simple, and effective strategy here. Please look
at the image on top of this page to see an example of the strategy
outlined in practice.
After each level ends, a new one begins without pause. A new
space station also appears at the start of each new level, needing your
proctection almost imediatelly. One strategy in this game is to
create barriers or particles around each space station. Once the
particles around the station come to a stop, you no longer need to fuss
with them. Any invader that collides with this barrier is
destroyed. To transport particles to a new space station that
will be most likely exposed to enemy attack, you can move some
particles off screen. They will rematerialize in the center of
the most recetly created space station. You can tap into this
supply, and use these particles to create a barrier around your newly
formed space station before enemy invaders can get to it. If
there is eminent danger from enemy invaders, you can also send a stream
of these particles at the enemy, and if it's dense enough, the enemy
invaders will be destroyed by this stream of particles. Remember,
all of this manipulation of particles you do simply by holding down the
left mouse button and swiping your mouse over an area on the
screen. Don't swipe too fast, or over to large an area at first,
until you get a feel for how things work.
How to
practice:
Mastering fluidic space control is key to this game. It is also
not an easy task. Once you do master it, this game becomes very
enjoyable! To practice, while in the start screen hit 'd'. This
will take you into doodle mode, where you can play around with the
particles, and see the results without the pressure of the enemy
invaders.
